Welcome to the Pavilions Project

This is a project that began more than a decade ago, when our Board of Trustees began planning to expand the hospital to ensure that we could meet the changing needs of our community — both today and into the future.

Thanks to extraordinary support for our capital campaign from the community, hospital employees, physicians, and volunteers, we have been able to add 200,000 square feet, the single largest construction project ever at Community Hospital.

The opening of the new South and Forest pavilions means Community Hospital can better serve its patients, with everything from an expanded Emergency department to the ability to perform complex heart surgeries.

But this project is not all about new buildingsand the latest technology. We remain deeply committed not only to delivering the highest-quality care, but to delivering it with a human touch.

Community Hospital has always been a place where skilled teams of nurses, doctors, and technologists practice state-of-the-art medicine in an environment that fosters healing. A place where patients come first.

Emergency Department

With the opening of the pavilions, our Emergency department has quadrupled in size, allowing us to care for more than 55,000 patients annually. It includes 20 new treatment rooms and three Express Care rooms (for quicker treatment of less critical patients), a bigger waiting area, and the latest technology. What this means for patients is access to the best in emergency medicine, as well as greater comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.

Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit

Our ICU includes 20 rooms instead of the previous 10 and is nearly five times the original size. The additional space allows us to provide the most advanced life-saving equipment to benefit our sickest patients.

Operating Rooms

The new South Pavilion houses eight new and substantially larger state-of-the-art operating suites. Two of those suites are designed to allow Community Hospital to perform cardiovascular surgeries, which will begin in the near future. Patients who previously had to leave the Peninsula for certain surgeries will now have a choice. And we have maximized our ability to save lives when minutes count.

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care

Community Hospital will continue to offer the same high-quality cardiac services it always has, plus the capability to fully treat critical cardiac patients with everything from initial diagnosis to the most complex surgeries.

Forest Pavilion

Four decades ago, we were one of the first hospitals in the country to offer all patients private rooms. We will continue that commitment with 120 spacious, new patient rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom and shower, and comfortable daybeds for family or visitors who wish to spend the night. Every detail of these rooms has been designed with the patient in mind. The Forest Pavilion will also include visitor waiting areas overlooking the soon-to-be-completed waterfall and Healing Garden.

Spacious new patient rooms will soon be available in the Forest Pavilion.
