MONTEREY, Calif. — Eight local students have been awarded scholarships by the medical staff of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
The scholarships range from $100 to $2,000 and are based on academic achievement, contributions to school and community, and participation in extracurricular activities. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a medical staff member at Community Hospital; a high school junior or senior or community college student; Monterey County resident for at least a year; and have a desire to attend a four-year college.
This year's winners are: Quinn Harris, Lauren Hendrick, Aaron Lewis, Adam Luba, Rachel Luba, Jason Mitchell, Samantha Ramseur, and Ross Whitlock. Samantha is a high school junior; the other recipients are seniors.
Doctors who are members of the medical staff at Community Hospital have provided more than $58,000 to Monterey County students since establishing the scholarship program in 2001.
