MONTEREY, Calif. — Get a glucose screening and blood pressure check, talk about nutrition with a registered dietitian, tour the Sleep Disorders Center and more at a free health fair and open house at the Ryan Ranch Outpatient Campus of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.

The event is from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at 2 Upper Ragsdale Dr., off Highway 68.

In addition to glucose screenings, clinical staff from Diabetes and Nutrition Therapy will do diabetic foot checks, reset glucose meters for the daylight-saving time change, and have an ask-the-registered-dietitian table for answers to questions about wellness nutrition.

There will be free blood pressure checks, lung screenings by a respiratory therapist, and "smoke checks" to determine cigarette consumption and secondhand smoke exposure. The Sleep Disorders Center will have a five-question screening test for obstructive sleep disorder and offer center tours. Information about preventing heart disease and cancer will be provided by staff from the Tyler Heart Institute, Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Breast Care Center. And a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology representative will share information about imaging services, from CT scans to MRIs.
