Free screenings, workshops Saturday at Big Sur Half Marathon Expo

MONTEREY, Calif. — Think you can’t run? Think again after getting expert advice and free screenings at the Big Sur Half Marathon Health & Fitness Expo at the Monterey Conference Center.

The two-day expo begins on Friday, (November 12). On Saturday, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula has partnered with the marathon to provide blood pressure checks, lung screenings, measure BMI, and offer informational sessions. " Fuel for Fitness " at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Paola Ball, Wellness Program coordinator at Community Hospital, speaking about " Metabolism boosters: Tips for daily living " at noon, and " Use it or lose it: Age is not your limit, " at 1 p.m.

The screenings are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The informational clinics on Saturday feature Stephanie Bouquet, a registered dietitian board-certified in sports nutrition, discussing

The Health & Fitness Expo is free and open to the general public as well as the thousands of race weekend participants and their family and friends. Expo hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The expo features the latest in running and sports gear, apparel, nutrition items, and more.
