Community Hospital medical staff awards scholarships

MONTEREY, Calif. — Nine local students have been awarded scholarships by the medical staff of CommunityHospital of the MontereyPeninsula.
Scholarships range from $100 to $2,000 and are awarded based on academic achievement, contributions to school and community, and participation in extracurricular activities. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a medical staff member at Community Hospital, a high school junior or senior or community college student; Monterey County resident for at least a year; and have a desire to attend a four-year college.
This year’s winners are: Madeline Bennett, Zac File, Benjamin Gerber, Andrew Grogin, Hannah Grogin, Jacqueline Prager, Victoria Prager, Ryan Reade, and Cassidy Satow. Doctors who are members of the medical staff at Community Hospital have provided more than $97,000 to Monterey County students since establishing the scholarship program in 2001.
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, founded in 1934 and located at 23625 Holman Highway in Monterey, has grown and evolved in direct response to the changing healthcare needs of the people it serves. It is a nonprofit healthcare provider with 205 staffed acute-care hospital beds and 28 skilled-nursing beds, delivering a continuum of care from birth to end of life, and every stage in between.
