Patient with tray

Nutrition is an important part of your care. Your diet is prescribed by your doctor, and for most diets, you will receive a menu to make your food selections. A tray-passer will deliver meals to your room and take special food requests. If you get hungry or thirsty between meals, ask your nurse or press the nurse call button to request light snacks that are available in your nursing unit pantry.

Mealtime depends on the location of your room. Check with your nurse for specific mealtimes and assistance with room service.

If you miss a meal, room service is available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. by calling ext. 4939.

Guest trays are available for visitors. To order a guest tray, please call ext. 4939 at the following times:  breakfast, 6:30 a.m.; lunch, 11 a.m.; and dinner; 5 p.m. A fee is charged and is not covered by insurance. Guest trays are not available in ICU; dining at the Fountain Court Café is encouraged for visitors.

For more information, refer to the folder, "Food Service for Our Patients and Guests," that is by your bedside.

Registered dietitians are responsible for your nutritional care. Dietitians and nutrition technicians are available to answer your nutrition questions, evaluate your nutritional needs, and assist you with food selections.

Warning: Drinking beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages during pregnancy can cause birth defects.
