Cancer survivors celebrate
What is a cancer survivor?
Living with — and surviving — a cancer diagnosis begins in that first moment. Recognizing the courage, fortitude, persistence, and flexibility it takes to live with a diagnosis of cancer, the Comprehensive Cancer Center participates in events that celebrate survivorship.
Community Hospital’s 11th annual Cancer Survivors’ Day: A Celebration of Life was held in August. Approximately 1,500 people gathered at the Monterey County Fairgrounds for a picnic barbecue prepared and served by local doctors and volunteers. This inspiring celebration offered many activities, including the Hands of Hope art project (a display of art created by cancer survivors), clowns, face painting, music, and lots of good food.
