What is prediabetes?

People with prediabetes have higher blood glucose levels than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Most will develop diabetes in 10 years, but many can prevent or delay the disease with by improved diet, increased exercise, and weight loss.

Lifestyle changes can help prevent or delay prediabetes from progressing to diabetes. We'll focus on changes including a healthy diet, increasing physical activity, and losing weight.

Our outpatient diabetes team --- doctors and certified diabetes educators --- support you in your journey to manage your diabetes and prevent the serious health problems that can come with it. We offer group classes and one-on-one appointments, depending on your needs. We can also provide this education in Spanish and other languages.
