Visitor Guidelines

Visitors are valued and often play a key role in the healing process. However, it is important for visitors to be sensitive to a patient's need for rest and recovery, so visiting guidelines have been established.

They include:

  • In most units there are no restrictions on visiting hours or the number of visitors, but visitors should be sensitive to patient needs.
  • Quiet time is all the time. Please be as quiet as possible in the corridors and while visiting in the patient's room.
  • If you have a cold or feel ill, do not visit.
  • Children may not visit patients who are in isolation.
  • Please do not leave children unattended anywhere in the hospital. Parents are responsible for supervising and keeping children quiet while in the hospital.
  • Food and beverages may be brought to the hospital for patient consumption only if it has been arranged with your nurse and is allowed in the diet prescribed by your doctor. Please check first. The smell of some foods can be unpleasant to some patients.
  • All visitors must check in at the nurse's station before visiting a patient.
  • Cell phones are allowed in all public areas of the hospital and in patient rooms.
  • Community Hospital is a smoke-free environment. Patients are not allowed to smoke. Help is available to stop smoking. Please ask your nurse for assistance. Visitors may smoke only in their cars.
