More and more people are being diagnosed with diabetes, a progressive disease that is the root of many chronic, often fatal, conditions. In Monterey County, as in other parts of California, there are at-risk populations that may not even know they have the disease. These people have an urgent need for diagnostic tests, education, and disease management.
Community Hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its advanced inpatient diabetes care. The certification recognizes exceptional efforts to provide diabetes education for patients who have been admitted to the hospital, their families and the hospital staff.
Outpatient care primarily helps patients manage their diabetes. The advantages of diabetes education include an improved quality of life through knowledge and behavior change resulting in a reduced risk of complications, and fewer hospitalizations.
Your donation to the diabetes initiative at Community Hospital provides increased funding to reduce the growth of diabetes on the Peninsula and effectively treat our current patients.
