The Carol Hatton Fund for women in need
Honoring our friend
In August 2009, our friend and leader, Carol Hatton, died after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
The Carol Hatton Fund for Women in Need
The Carol Hatton Fund for Women in Need will provide comprehensive diagnostic procedures to women in need. These procedures include:
Mammograms
Biopsies
Ultrasounds
Cyst Aspirations
She will be fondly remembered for many reasons. Those close to Carol will recall her passion, enthusiasm, grace, and devotion to her family and friends as well as her commitment to those in need. The community will remember her as the most significant force behind the Breast Care Center Initiative that raised more than $2.5 million to enhance the detection and prevention of the disease.
Throughout her own struggle, Carol went out of her way to encourage others who had been diagnosed with cancer. She offered support, counsel, friendship, advice, a shoulder to cry on, a friendly and experienced ear and a sense of humor. It is in this spirit that we wish to honor Carol by creating The Carol Hatton Fund for Women in Need and naming the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula's Breast Care Center in her memory. In her honor, we want to provide funding for all women who might otherwise be denied access to comprehensive breast cancer screening and proper care.
The next steps
Our goal is to raise a minimum of $500,000 to establish The Carol Hatton Fund for Women in Need. This Fund will provide financial assistance to women who cannot afford comprehensive and complete breast cancer diagnostic testing.
This critical fund will be coupled with the $2.5 million raised in the Breast Care Center Initiative to honor Carol's legacy with the naming of the Carol Hatton Breast Care Center at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
