Therapy Dog Program
There's a special magic in a patient's eyes when a gentle, loving therapy dog enters the room. Somehow, these familiar creatures provide reassurance that everything really will be OK. And studies support their positive effect, showing that blood pressure goes down when petting a dog.
Community Hospital boasts more than 30 volunteers in its Therapy Dog Progam. Each person and their dog make a minimum of one visit a month. The dogs are all vaccinated, clean, on leash, and certified by Therapy Dog International. They navigate inpatient units at the hospital and are available upon request at the number below or by asking your nurse.
This volunteer service is so popular we currently have a waiting list. For more information please call: (831) 622-2687.
