Cardiac Surgery Results at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula
While there has been growing concern nationwide about serious hospital-acquired infections, Community Hospital's infection rate is below nationally expected rates for those infections which may be acquired during heart surgery (see Serious Infections vs. National Rate). Serious infections include deep sternal wound infections, pneumonia, and sepsis.
Superficial Infections vs. National Rate
illustrates our infection rate for all superficial infections, which may be acquired during heart surgery. Superficial infections include leg wounds for those procedures that involved blood vessel grafts for heart procedures. Of particular note, Community Hospital 's infection rate is below nationally expected rates, and we have had no sternal infections.
