Joint Replacement Program Coordinator
Maggie LeBel is coordinator of the Joint Replacement Program at the Orthopedic Center of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Ms. LeBel has more than 25 years of nursing experience and program development, much of it in orthopedics.
At Community Hospital, she advocates for those with orthopedic surgery needs, educating patients and their families about orthopedic procedures, especially joint replacement. She assists patients and families navigating the healthcare system, obtaining referrals and appropriate delivery of services to meet their needs.
Ms. LeBel’s healthcare calling started in rural Illinois, taking care of her six siblings’ bumps and bruises as they grew up. She was inspired to become a nurse by the compassion of a neighborhood nurse who was available around the clock to help others.
Two years after graduating from a nursing program in Illinois, Ms. LeBel moved to California. She has developed a variety of programs throughout her career for hospitals and home-care agencies. She is master’s prepared and a certified nurse in the field of orthopedics. She has presented at national professional conventions for nurses and surgeons, and is a member of the National Association of Nurses and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses.
Ms. LeBel is married with two grown children, five grandchildren, and two dogs. She enjoys long walks on the beach, yoga, biking, and cooking elaborate meals for family and friends.
