Community Hospital has adopted the Lean approach, based on a system created by Toyota® decades ago and later adapted in other industries. Lean’s goal is to create the most value for customers with the least amount of waste, whether building a Prius® or diagnosing and treating stomach pain. As part of lean, we are looking at what’s important to the customer and focusing on continually improving how we get there. Lean is a cultural transformation. Every member of our organization will be empowered, particularly those at the front-lines and the bedside, to make the care we provide better.
2017 goals to reduce patient time in the hospital for improved care and experience:
- Reduce wait time for patients to see a doctor once they arrive in the Emergency Department.
- Reduce the time it takes to discharge a patient from care once the doctor has ordered it.
