MONTEREY, Calif. — It’s the start of a new year, and you are determined to become healthier and to challenge yourself in a new direction. You want to sign up for a running race, but could use some tips and tricks to send you on your way.
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur International Marathon (BSIM) are here to help. Our experts have teamed for a free lecture and discussion on January 21, Break your Speed Limit. They’ll share strategies and success stories for all running levels – from starting your first 5k to improving your time on your next marathon.
Doug Thurston, race director, BSIM, will provide training and race tips for all levels. One of Community Hospital’s clinical dietitians, Gina Whitely, will recommend what to eat during training sessions, race day eve, and race day. Luke Adan, one of Community Hospital’s physical therapists, will talk about how to prevent running injuries.
Community Hospital and BSIM have been partners for years. Community Hospital is the official medical provider for the Big Sur International Marathon in April and the Big Sur International Half Marathon in November.
The free event starts at 5:30 p.m. in Community Hospital’s main conference rooms, 23625 Holman Highway, Monterey. Registration is required.
