A breath of fresh air
Unless you are among the small but growing number of residents who have used the service, you might be surprised that Community Hospital recently launched the Central Coast's first Hyperbaric Medicine Program.
What is hyperbaric medicine? It's a kind of healing that utilizes 100-percent pure, concentrated oxygen. It's actually a higher concentration than the air we breathe each day. It can help mend hard-to-heal wounds such as those sometimes experienced by people who suffer from diabetes. Our two hyperbaric chambers offer the latest technology. Our staff is certified, credentialed, and expert in the field of hyperbaric medicine.
You also might not know that hyperbaric medicine is just one of the things we offer in our Rehabilitation Services department. With a focus on helping you return to good health following an illness or injury, we have a number of specialties that can make a difference in a patient's recovery. From toddlers to seniors, stroke victims to injured athletes, our physical, occupational, and speech therapists can help restore what once was. We explore our comprehensive range of services in this issue of Pulse.
In addition, the magazine includes stories about the official opening of the South and Forest pavilions, our Nurse of the Year Stephanie Harr, and our Community Benefit Program.
We hope you enjoy this edition.
