Making the connection.

Community Hospital is all about connecting with the community we serve. We do it every day while providing patient care. We've done it with the opening of our new South and Forest pavilions. And we do it through our Community Benefit Program. In 2006, we provided nearly $111 million and almost 28,000 volunteer hours - sponsoring everything from nutritional education for kids to heart monitors to Feast for AIDS. Here's how we did it:

  • Improving Access to Care - $106,213,903 to people in need, people who might not otherwise be able to afford healthcare
  • Building Healthy Communities - $2,005,661 for identifying and addressing our community's health needs
  • Health Education and Wellness - $1,882,859 to educate people about how their lifestyle choices affect their health
  • Special Care for Special Needs - $521,333 for those at risk for chemical dependence, mental illness, or HIV, or those with special needs because of their age, socioeconomic status, or involvement in a violent relationship

Tracking and reporting community benefit activities to the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development is a requirement of the state legislature (SB 697).
