Letter from the President
You might think of this as the "what's new" issue of Pulse. Many recent changes at Community Hospital are very visible, from the redesigned Fountain Court to the new Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology department. Other developments, especially in the care we deliver, are less obvious - so we wanted to take an opportunity to tell you about some of them.
For years Community Hospital has offered cardiac care, but the breadth of our program has grown significantly under the Tyler Heart Institute umbrella. You'll find everything you need to keep your heart healthy - from prevention to open-heart surgery.
You'll also find advanced stroke care at Community Hospital, certified late last year as the only primary stroke center in Monterey County.
Rehabilitation Services has expanded its reach, opening a leading-edge program to help patients regain balance skills lost for a wide variety of reasons.
And advances continue at our Breast Care Center, where we are participating in a clinical trial to improve early detection of breast cancer.
This issue also includes a list of our 2009 donors, who play a huge role in our ability to offer the services our community needs. We want to thank them for their continuing support.
We hope you enjoy this issue and welcome your comments.
