The Rehabilitation Services department provides acute care and outpatient services in physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with many specialized services from the therapists, most of whom have advanced certifications and/or doctorate degrees. Outpatient services are offered at three convenient locations in Monterey, Marina, and Salinas.
Acute care and outpatient services:
The physical therapist deals with joints, muscles, nerves and the conditions that can affect them. The goal of physical therapy is to restore movement and regain function in everyday life.
The occupational therapist is focused on getting the patient to move for a specific reason - to perform work functions or simply to re-learn the activities of daily living. The occupational therapy staff at Community Hospital includes a certified hand therapist, who specializes in treatment aimed at recovery from a hand injury or after hand surgery.
Speech therapists deal with communication, comprehension, cognitive impairments and swallowing disorders and other conditions of the head and neck.
From geriatrics to stroke patients to cancer survivors, injured athletes to wounded weekend warriors, Community Hospital's rehabilitation services works to restore what has been wounded, compromised, or lost. The rehabilitation therapists know how to make a difference in your attitude, your recovery, and your life.
