Laboratory Services

When you need lab work done, count on Community Hospital.

Whether you're an outpatient, inpatient, or facing an emergency, a local lab can guarantee quick, accurate results. And because we store those results electronically, they're readily available when your doctor needs them.

Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula means...

Reliable results

CLIA-certified and accredited by JCAHO, CAP, and AABB

A professional team

We have a staff of more than 150, which includes:

  • clinical laboratory scientists
  • medical laboratory technicians
  • phlebotomy technicians
  • histologists
  • registered nurses
  • specialists in blood banking

Local pathologists

Our four, board-certified pathologists are ready to help you and your medical team interpret your test results.

Close to home

Satellite labs are located throughout the Monterey Peninsula in order to bring services closer to your home. Please note the hours and location of each lab on the left.

A nonprofit, local hospital

When you use our lab, you're helping your community. You have a choice on how you spend your dollar. Spending with Community Hospital in turn supports other community-based programs through hospital services, including cancer and diabetes support, childbirth classes, fitness/well-being, and health management.

Additional testing

When extra testing is necessary, we use the best. Our primary reference laboratory is Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP). It offers more than 2,000 tests and test combinations, ranging from routine screening to highly complex tests.

Convenient hours

24-hour availability

Because we're a hospital lab, we provide testing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, not just when our satellites are open. And test results are kept electronically. So when you use Community Hospital for your laboratory testing needs, your results will be available if you need additional care at the hospital.

House calls

In specified areas, when a patient is certified as homebound and there is a medical necessity, a California state-certified laboratory phlebotomist will go to the patient's home to collect a specimen. These services are available Monday-Friday (except holidays), from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
